How can I enable the SQL Server Browser Service on SQL Server running on Docker for Mac?

  docker, sql-server, sqlbrowser

I was required by my university to install the community version of Data Cleaner in order to run some Data Quality practical routines. Since I have a Macbook, I need to run SQL Server through Docker, so I don’t have the usual components installed as regular SQL Server users.

How can I enable the SQL Server Browser service? It seems to be a requirement in order for Data Cleaner to run correctly.

When I select the "Open in Browser" option from Docker, the browser attempts to open

localhost:1433

I don’t know how to add the SA (username) + password values to that connection string.

Every time I do that, the server logs

Logon Length specified in network packet payload did not match number of bytes read; the connection has been closed. Please contact the vendor of the client library.[CLIENT: 172.17.0.1]

How do I enable SQL Server Browser service from the CLI? Am I missing something when attempting to login?
